Hundreds of Cases at Risk as Michigan Mulls Covid Filing Pause

The Michigan Supreme Court was told directly Thursday that the justices had violated the state constitution, and the bench wondered out loud what they could do to fix it.

In March 2020, as pandemic shutdowns began, the Michigan Supreme Court issued an unprecedented order pausing filing deadlines. That relaxed mandates for innumerable legal claims as the court system adapted to online dockets and remote proceedings.
