Humana, Live-In Caregivers Urge Approval for $17 Million OT Deal

Humana and a group of live-in home health-care employees urged a Connecticut federal court to preliminarily approve a $17 million class deal resolving allegations they weren’t properly paid overtime.

Settlement would avoid a lengthy trial over complex legal and factual issues, and inevitable appeals, the March 26 joint motion for tentative approval to the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut said.

The employees, who provide live-in or partial-live-in companionship services to elderly and disabled people, sued Humana Inc. and two related companies for overtime violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and Connecticut and New York wage laws. ...
