HP Inc. and a class of customers got a judge’s approval for their settlement of a lawsuit over allegations the company blocked printer owners from using ink cartridges from competitors.
The customers accused HP of misleading them about software updates that undermined printer compatibility with other companies’ cartridges. They also said the company misled them about data collection practices related to the cartridges. The agreement requires HP to inform customers of data collection practices and provide an opportunity to decline printer updates.
