Houston Pharmacy Owner Accused of $170 Million Health Care Fraud

A Houston-area pharmacy owner and two others have been charged with orchestrating $170 million health care fraud scheme.

The 13-count indictment, unsealed on Tuesday in the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas, names Shalondria Simpson, Shayla Bryant, and Simpson’s twin sister, Lashondria Simpson-Camp.

Prosecutors accuse the three of conspiring to submit false claims for medically unnecessary high-cost drugs on behalf of injured United States Postal Service workers to the US Department of Labor, Office of Worker’s Compensation.

DOJ-OWCP administers the Federal Employees’ Compensation Act, which established the workers’ compensation program for federal employees.
