Houston Defeats Lawsuit by Man Struck by Councilman’s Golf Cart

A man who sued the city of Houston after he was allegedly run over by a city council member’s golf cart during a parade in 2018 won’t get to proceed with the case, after a Texas appeals court ruled Thursday that the councilman wasn’t the driver of the golf cart.

John Anthony Branch sued after he was injured during a parade to commemorate the Booker T. Washington High School’s 125th anniversary. John Gibbs, community outreach liaison and a co-chair of the parade, was responsible for driving Councilman Michael Kubosh in the councilman’s privately owned golf cart.
