The Houston Community College System and Black employees who claimed school leaders discriminated against them by promoting the hiring of Hispanics have reached a global settlement to end the case.
The colleges’ board accepted an offer to settle three lawsuits in exchange for an undisclosed amount to be awarded to 119 plaintiffs, lawyers for the colleges said in a Dec. 12 motion. Judge Drew B. Tipton of the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas on Tuesday granted the motion and ordered the administrative closure of two related cases.
