Houston Astros Owners’ Fraud Suit Goes Before Texas High Court

The Houston Astros baseball club asked the Texas Supreme Court on Tuesday to decide whether they can pursue legal action against McLane Champions LLC, the team’s former ownership, for allegedly exaggerating the predicted revenues of the team’s failed broadcasting venture to encourage the sale of the franchise.

McLane Champions LLC and stakeholder Drayton McLane Jr. contend that a lower court wrongly allowed the suit to proceed. Comcast Corp., which had a stake in the broadcast rights and was also a defendant in the case, settled the claims for an unknown amount last week.
