Horizon Freight System Inc. agreed to pay $3 million to settle a class lawsuit alleging it misclassified truck drivers as independent contractors, depriving them of reimbursement for expenses incurred while driving for the company, California federal court records show.
Under the agreement, $990,000 of the $3 million class fund will be used to pay class counsel’s attorneys’ fees and up to $300,000 to pay its costs.
