Honda Faces Suit Alleging it Hinders Black Worker Advancement

Honda boxes its Black workers out of promotional opportunities while advancing non-Black employees at a disparate rate, a proposed class of Black workers said in a new federal lawsuit Tuesday.

Johnny M. Bush Jr. said that Honda Development & Manufacturing of America LLC violates Title VII through its disparate treatment of Black workers, according to his complaint in the US District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. He alleges Honda’spromotion selection, training, and compensation criteria results in more White and other non-Black advancements into managerial, supervisory, and administrative roles.
