HomeAdvisor Inc. will have to face a nationwide class action claiming that it misappropriated the personal information of customers to whom it allegedly sold sham business leads, a federal court said.
The classes are ascertainable, large, and have questions of law and fact in common, Judge Phillip A. Brimmer said for the US District Court for the District of Colorado Wednesday. The plaintiffs’ claims are also typical of the classes and they can adequately represent everyone’s interest, he said.
But HomeAdvisor successfully warded off a nationwide class on the underlying claim that its business practices were deceptive, Brimmer said.
