Home Depot Time Rounding Case Gets California High Court Nod

Home Depot USA Inc. and its employees who alleged the retailer’s timekeeping system shorted them for all time worked in violation of California labor laws and policies will get to argue their cases before the state Supreme Court.

Justices during their weekly meeting Wednesday unanimously agreed to review an appeals court holding that a trial judge wrongly granted the company summary judgment. The appellate panel said it was clear Home Depot’s time system could and did track every minute employees worked.

The company’s system rounded up to the quarter hour, so plaintiff Delmer Camp lost a total of 470 minutes ...
