Home Depot Customer Drops Suit Over Self-Checkout Facial Scan

A man who said Home Depot Inc. illegally fails to ask for permission to collect facial scans at self-checkout kiosks decided to drop his federal class action lawsuit against the home improvement chain.

Benjamin Jankowski asked the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in a notice Thursday for a voluntary dismissal of the suit. Judge April M. Perry granted dismissal without prejudice Friday. It wasn’t immediately clear what led to the voluntary dismissal, and neither party immediately responded to a request for comment Friday.
