Highgate Hotels to Pay $487,500 to Settle 2024 Data Breach Suit

New York-based hotel management firm Highgate Hotels Inc. agreed to pay $487,500 to settle a lawsuit alleging it negligently failed to protect the personal information of more than 16,000 current and former employees that was exposed in a 2024 data breach.

Class members would be eligible for up to $3,500 each in reimbursement for documented financial losses related to the breach, or a pro rata cash payment of around $100 from the net settlement fund, according to a July 18 motion for preliminary approval of the settlement filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. ...
