HHS Must Pause DEI Grant Conditions for Head Start Program Funds

The US Department of Health and Human Services is barred, for now, from imposing grant conditions requiring recipients of Head Start education program funds to certify that the cash won’t be used to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The organizations challenging the conditions, as well as the administration’s alleged dismantling of the program through mass layoffs and office closures, are likely to prevail on the merits of their claims, Judge Ricardo S. Martinez said in a Tuesday order.
