Hexagon Hits Metal Fabricator With Software Infringement Suit

Hexagon AB division Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence Inc. filed a copyright infringement suit against Advantage Metal Products, accusing the metal fabricator of using unlicensed pirated copies of its software.

Advantage, a former Hexagon customer, “copied unlicensed Edgecam and Surfcam Traditional software, presumably to use at Defendant Advantage Metal’s facility in Livermore, Calif.,” according to the complaint filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of California Tuesday.

Advantage previously purchased from Hexagon licenses to use two Surfcam and one Edgecam product, the complaint alleges.
