Helicopter Tour Company Says Competitor’s Domain Infringes Mark

A South Dakota helicopter touring company says a direct competitor is infringing its “Black Hills Helicopters” trademark by operating a website with a similar domain name that redirects potential customers to competing services.

Black Hills Helicopters is suing Black Hills Aerial Adventures for trademark infringement and cybersquatting, alleging BHAA is willfully using a confusingly similar domain name that only leaves out an “s” to redirect BHH’s actual or potential customers to BHAA. BHH also alleges its competitor uses a 301 redirect, which automatically redirects anyone attempting to go to the allegedly infringing domain to another website that BHAA owns.
