HealthEC $5.5 Million Data Breach Settlement Seeks Final Nod

A settlement with HealthEC LLC, a health-care technology company that experienced a data breach that impacted about 1.67 million of its clients’ patients, has been submitted for final approval after receiving nearly 50,000 valid claims.

Members had options for reimbursement or compensation through the settlement, which will continue to provide three years of medical financial fraud protection despite the closed claims period, according to the motion for final approval filed Monday in the US District Court for the District of New Jersey. Only 22 members of the class opted out of the settlement.
