Mental-health services clearinghouse Therapymatch Inc., which does business as Headway, failed to shake a Confidentiality of Medical Information Act claim that it shared sensitive information with Google.
The US District Court for the Northern District of California previously dismissed the CMIA claim after ruling the anonymous plaintiff failed to allege that the disclosed information was medical in nature. An amended complaint saying he disclosed symptoms, mental health issues, preferred form of therapy, and other patient data to Headway fixed the issue, Judge Araceli Martínez-Olguín said.
