HCL Tech Sues Atos, CNA Financial for Copyright Infringement (1)

HCL Technologies Ltd. filed a complaint in federal court against Atos SE and CNA Financial Corp. for infringing the copyrights it holds in software packages it bought from IBM and requested over $132 million in damages.

The software at issue are the Digital Experience software and Domino software, which are used to help operate millions of applications and large websites around the world, HCL’s complaint says.

IBM previously licensed the DX and Domino software to Atos, which uses it to manage and operate CNA’s “customer-facing insurance-related businesses and internal applications,” the complaint says. When HCL acquired the rights to the ...
