HCA Healthcare Inc.'s settlement of a class action alleging it negligently failed to protect the personal information of around 11 million patients in a 2023 data breach received final approval from a federal court.
The deal allows class members to receive up to $5,000 in reimbursement for documented losses related to the breach and one year of credit-monitoring services, according to the plaintiff’s motion for final settlement approval. Judge Jack Zouhary of the US District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee granted the motion Wednesday.
