Harvard University followed its procedures in withholding a degree from ex-Goldman Sachs analyst and Hollywood script writer Damilare Sonoiki and later expelling him after investigating sexual misconduct accusations by three female students, the college told the First Circuit.
Sonoiki’s principal argument—that Harvard lacked “jurisdiction” to withhold his degree while investigating the complaints against him because it hadn’t yet issued a formal charge by his expected graduation date—"is absurd on its face,” Harvard said in a Dec. 4 filing.
Two complaints were filed shortly before graduation, and one was filed several days afterward.
