Hannaford Managers Request $1 Million in Overtime Suit Payouts

Hannaford Bros. Co. department managers asked a federal district court to preliminarily approve a $1.05 million class action settlement for workers alleging the grocery store chain failed to pay them overtime wages as required in Massachusetts.

The settlement would resolve claims from a group of managers who argue that the Maine-based chain misclassified them to avoid paying overtime wages, as well as Sunday and holiday premium pay.

The workers justified the payout to Judge William G. Young in a motion for preliminary approval filed Friday in the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
