Hanesbrands Hit With Class Action Over Breach of Employee Info

Hanesbrands Inc. is facing a new federal class action alleging its negligence caused a May 2022 data breach that exposed the personal information of thousands of employees.

Veronica Roman alleged in the lawsuit that the breach was the direct result of the company’s failure to encrypt employees’ information and implement adequate cybersecurity procedures to protect their information.

The information exposed in the breach included names, Social Security numbers, birthdates, driver’s license numbers, addresses, information related to benefits and employment, health information, and financial account information, it said.
