Halliburton Reaches $100,000 Settlement on Worker’s PAGA Claim

Halliburton Energy Services Inc. agreed to pay $100,000 to 342 current and former employees to resolve a California Private Attorneys General Act suit over alleged wage-and-hour violations.

Robert Middleton alleged that Halliburton failed to pay proper wages and provide proper rest breaks. The oil field service company couldn’t get the US District Court for the Eastern District of California to compel arbitration pursuant to a US Supreme Court ruling because the parties already stipulated the PAGA claim was exempt from arbitration, and the stipulation didn’t “include any caveat to capture potential changes in case law.”
