Guardian Analytics, Webster Bank Reach $1.4 Million Breach Deal

Guardian Analytics Inc. and Webster Bank N.A. will pay more than $1.4 million to settle allegations they failed to protect the personal information of around 192,000 people in a 2022 data breach, under a deal given final approval in federal court.

Plaintiffs in the consolidated class action alleged that Guardian, a provider of data-analytics services to financial institutions, and Webster Bank recklessly failed to take adequate measures to ensure that sensitive customer data was protected.

Information exposed in the breach included names, Social Security numbers, and financial-account numbers, the complaint said.
