Groups Sue for Legal Access to Migrants Moved to Guantanamo Bay

The US government is unlawfully depriving legal advocates of access to migrants transferred to US detention facilities in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, according to a lawsuit filed against the Trump administration Wednesday in Washington.

The complaint, brought on behalf of four immigrant rights groups and three sets of individuals said the US government is violating the Immigration and Nationality Act as well as the migrants’ right to habeas corpus, free speech, due process. They’re asking the US District Court for the District of Columbia for a temporary restraining order allowing legal service organizations access to immigrant detainees at the facility. ...
