Green Party’s Stein Liable for $175K in Public Campaign Spending

Jill Stein, the 2016 Green Party presidential candidate, remains obligated as of Friday to pay $175,272 after she failed to convince an appeals court that a time limit on the use of matching public campaign funds unconstitutionally discriminates against minor parties.

She also failed to timely contest a Federal Elections Commission audit that she said didn’t properly consider winding down costs that would have offset her obligation under the Presidential Primary Matching Payment Account Act, Judge Gregory G. Katsas wrote for the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit.
