Green Diamond to Pay $695,000 to Settle Data-Breach Class Action

Green Diamond Resource Co. would pay $695,000 under a proposed deal to settle allegations that it negligently failed to protect the personal information of nearly 28,000 consumers in a 2023 data breach.

Members of the proposed class would be eligible for reimbursement of up to $5,000 each in documented out-of-pocket losses from the breach, a pro rata payment from the net settlement fund, and credit-monitoring services, according to the plaintiffs’ motion for preliminary approval of the settlement. The motion, filed Monday in the US District Court for the Western District of Washington, is subject to approval by Judge Lauren King. ...
