GrafTech Leaders Falsely Touted Green Compliance, Investor Says

GrafTech International Ltd. directors and executives boasted about the graphite electrode maker’s environmental compliance while it polluted neighborhoods near its Mexican manufacturing facility, a shareholder alleges.

The Mexican authorities brought proceedings that resulted in GrafTech “agreeing to invest over $2 million in dust collection and containment projects to cure its violations of local law” in 2019, Giulia Carponi says on behalf of the company. She filed her derivative suit Monday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.
