Google’s Real Time Ad Bidding Settlement Gets Final Court Nod

Google LLC will allow account holders to opt-out of the use of their personal data in real-time-bidding auctions for targeted advertising under a class-action settlement that received final approval by a federal court.

Google will launch the opt-out tool and conduct public outreach about it within 30 days, and keep it in place for three years, according to the plaintiffs’ motion seeking final settlement approval. The deal, covering more than 169 million Google users, could be worth between $1.4 billion and $21.6 billion, the filing said.
