Google LLC’s $30 million’s deal settling a children’s privacy suit over collecting data from young YouTube viewers and targeting them with behavioral advertising was preliminarily approved by a federal court.
YouTube watchers who were under the age of 13 between 2013 and 2020 would qualify for a pro rata payment from the settlement fund the Alphabet Inc. unit agreed to pay into, according to the order signed Tuesday by Magistrate Judge Susan van Keulen, of the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
