Google’s $135 Million Deal to End Phone Data Suit Gets First Nod

Google LLC’s deal to pay $135 million to settle a proposed class action alleging it illegally consumes the cellular data consumers have purchased from their providers was preliminarily approved by a federal court.

The settlement covers US residents unless they’re citizens of California, who are class members in a different suit. Class members here will likely recover no more than $2 from a pro rata cash payment, according to the order from the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
