Google Wins Another Round Against Conservative Website Operator

Google LLC got a boost in its bid for attorneys’ fees after defeating a conservative website operator’s claims of viewpoint discrimination, when a federal magistrate judge in Florida recommended awarding the tech giant nearly $150,000 in fees.

Google should receive most of the $202,206 it requested in attorneys’ fees and appellate attorneys’ fees, Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart said in a report issued Thursday. The website operator’s failure to plead a viable racketeering claim despite “multiple chances” entitles Google to fees under Florida racketeering law, Reinhart said.
