Google Users Get Class Status in Suit Over Device Recordings

Purchasers of Google devices equipped the Google Assistant may bring their claims over the company’s alleged recording and disclosing of their information as a class action, a federal court ruled.

A purchaser class led by Asif Kumandan may proceed against Google with breach-of-contract claims and claims under the California Unfair Competition Law predicated on the company’s alleged breach of its Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, Judge Beth Labson Freeman of the US District Court for the Northern District of California said Monday.
