Google, Sonos Smart-Speaker Patent Judgment Vacated Over Relief

Final judgment in the multimillion-dollar patent dispute between Sonos Inc. and Alphabet Inc.'s Google was vacated after a federal judge determined there were still unresolved questions in the case.

A San Francisco jury awarded Sonos $32.5 million last month after concluding that Google had used its former partner’s patented smart-speaker technologies in Google products without permission.

But the US District Court for the Northern District of California said on Wednesday that it acted prematurely in issuing final judgment after the jurors presented their verdict.
