Google will pay $7.5 million to resolve a class action brought against it by users of its now-shuttered Google Plus social media platform, which suffered from software bugs that put profile information at risk, as part of a settlement that was set Thursday for final approval.
Named plaintiffs Matthew Matic, Zak Harris, Charles Olson, and Eileen M. Pinkowski sued Google alleging they were harmed by a reported data vulnerability, which Google said exposed the personal information of up to 500,000 users who had accounts on the closed platform.
