Google Hit With Copyright Suit Over Users’ Account Impersonation

Google LLC was hit with a copyright infringement lawsuit by a Chicago photographer alleging the tech giant has taken no action over “ceaseless” online harassment by anonymous users.

Candace Morgan, who manages several businesses in Chicago, sued the tech giant and the two anonymous users in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois on Friday. She says that starting in 2022 two Google users began posting disparaging reviews of businesses with which she is associated in the Google Maps app. The users later started using Morgan’s name and a copyrighted selfie of her.
