Google Gets Final Nod to End YouTube Young Viewer Privacy Suit

Google LLC’s $30 million settlement to resolve a privacy suit over allegedly collecting data from young YouTube viewers and targeting them with behavioral advertising received final approval from a federal court.

Plaintiffs sued Google after the Federal Trade Commission and New York issued an enforcement action over the alleged data collection in 2019. The orders, signed Tuesday, said that as of Dec. 15 the settlement administrator had received more than 4 million claims for a pro rata cash payment from the settlement fund.
