Google Game App Gambling Lawsuits Sent to Northern California

Lawsuits alleging Google LLC profits from illegal casino-style game apps purchased through the Google Play Store will head to a combined proceeding in the Northern District of California.

Plaintiffs say games such as slots, poker, blackjack, and bingo allow users to purchase virtual coins or coin-like objects to play for the chance to win more playing time. Paying money for the chance to get more time constitutes unlawful gambling under state laws, they allege.

Google takes up to 30% of all revenue generated by game-app related sales involving the Google Play Store, plaintiffs say.
