GM’s $150 Million Engine Defect Settlement Earns Final Approval

General Motors LLC and three consumer classes received final approval for a $150 million settlement resolving litigation over alleged oil-consumption defects seen in several car models produced after Feb. 10, 2011.

Judge Edward M. Chen, of the US District Court for the Northern District of California, granted preliminary approval for the agreement in June and consummated the deal in a Thursday order after receiving no objections from the class members. Consumers from various states sued GM in 2016 alleging unjust enrichment, breach of warranty, and fraudulent omission, among other claims.
