GM Sheds Employee’s Claims of Race, Gender Discrimination

General Motors LLC won dismissal of a Black female employee’s suit alleging the company discriminated and retaliated against her, violating federal and state law, based on her race and gender when it suspended her over a “verbal altercation” with a co-worker.

Lolita Jobe alleged that White employees weren’t disciplined for the same conduct. But Jobe failed to show that similarly situated employees were treated more favorably than her, the US District Court for the Northern District of Ohio said, granting GM’s motion for summary judgment as to all claims.
