GM, Bosch Exit Diesel Cruze Drivers’ Emissions-Cheat Litigation

General Motors LLC and Robert Bosch LLC are free of a proposed class suit by drivers who said the companies installed emissions-cheating software in diesel-powered Chevrolet Cruze cars.

The plaintiffs’ claims are preempted by the Clean Air Act because they would interfere with the Environmental Protection Agency’s authority, a federal court said in dismissing the long-running case.

Drivers sued in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan in 2016, alleging they were duped by GM and supplier Bosch into overpaying for their vehicles through deception and false advertising.
