GM, Analytics Firms Fail to Shake Lawsuit Over Drivers’ Data

General Motors LLC and two analytics companies must face most claims of a proposed class action alleging they unlawfully collected and shared data about consumers’ driving behavior with insurance companies without consent.

The plaintiffs adequately pleaded claims against GM and its OnStar LLC subsidiary under the Federal Wiretap Act, the Stored Communications Act, several common law causes of action, and analagous state statutes, Judge Thomas W. Thrash of the US District Court for the Northern District of Georgia said Wednesday.

They also adequately pleaded claims against LexisNexis Risk Solutions Inc. and Verisk Analytics Inc. under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ...
