Global Tel*Link Corp.'s Inmate Call Settlement Gets Initial Nod

Global Tel*Link Corp. has agreed to pay $17 million to resolve claims that it engaged in a scheme to inflate the prices of single collect calls placed by prison inmates, according to an order preliminarily approving the class settlement.

GTL has also agreed to cooperate with the plaintiffs as they continue to prosecute their claims against remaining defendants in the case.

The lawsuit accuses Global Tel*Link Corp., Securus Technologies LLC, and 3Cinteractive Corp. of price fixing and violating the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.
