Arise Virtual Solutions Inc., a third-party customer service support company, on Tuesday agreed to pay $7 million to resolve the US Federal Trade Commission’s claims that the company duped consumers into believing they could make a lucrative earning if they signed up to become agents.

Arise promised $18 per hour earnings to consumers who signed up to become customer service agents for big companies like Barnes & Noble, Disney, Walgreens, and others. But Arise’s internal documents showed 99.9% of customers earned less than that between 2019 and 2022, according to the FTC’s complaint filed in the US District Court ...
