Supermarket chain Giant failed to pay properly pay employees overtime and minimum wages after a ransomware attack blocked its access to the timekeeping system it used, a worker alleges in federal court in Maryland.
Giant of Maryland LLC used a third-party service provided by Ultimate Kronos Group to track work time. When a hack took that service offline, the company struggled to promptly pay workers the minimum and overtime wages they had earned, according to the complaint employee Tyler Kibec filed in the US District Court for the District of Maryland.
