Getty Has Room to Fortify AI Infringement Claims, Judge Hints

Getty Images could beef up its copyright complaint against AI image-generator Stability AI Inc., a federal judge signaled Tuesday, as she appeared open to trimming the stock photo company’s lawsuit.

The parties sparred during an hour-long hearing in San Francisco over Getty’s allegations that Stability copied more than 12 million photographs without permission to build a competing business. They focused on Stability’s intent when its software produced non-Getty images bearing the Getty watermark.
