Georgia City, White Ex-Manager End Bias Suit Over Termination

A rural Georgia city and one of its former managers agreed to end litigation alleging a majority-Black city commission fired him because he’s White.

The case was closed Friday following the parties’ move to dismiss the case with prejudice a day earlier, according to docket entry in the US District Court for the Middle District of Georgia. Roland McCarthy’s federal race discrimination claims against the City of Cordele were revived by the Eleventh Circuit in July 2024—a ruling based on the city commission chair’s alleged campaign to replace White employees with people of color. ...
