General Dynamics Agrees to Pay for Clean Up at High-Tech Site

General Dynamics Corp. will have to pay the US Environmental Protection Agency more than $10,000 in past response costs and all future costs to remediate soil and groundwater contamination at a Florida site.

General Dynamics started operating the 8.2-acre site in Longwood, Fla., in 1966 and manufactured circuit boards there, the EPA said. A variety of solvents and vapor degreasers including trichloroethylene were used at the site for parts cleaning. General Dynamics was alerted of possible contamination in 2007, when the EPA was investigating a nearby Superfund site.
