GE Sued Over Defective Wind Turbines in Oklahoma

The renewable energy arm of General Electric Co. is being sued by American Electric Power Co. Inc. for refusing to fix hundreds of defective wind turbine generators GE supplied for three wind power generation projects in Oklahoma.

The generators have had numerous defects and experienced complete failures in less than three years of commercial operation, including at least one instance where a blade fell off a turbine, American Electric says in its complaint filed against GE Renewables NA LLC Friday in the New York Supreme Court.
